I was born and raised in Serbia and at an early age I developed interest for language and linguistics. In high school I majored in Serbian language and literature and I continued studying at the University of Philology in Belgrade expanding my interest in languages with Arabic, oriental studies and English. I have studied every facet of language from grammar, linguistics, culture and philosophy, to theory of literature. I truly enjoy teaching my mother-tongue language as well as all accents of the Balkan region and Eastern Europe. I am an expert in the Serbian language as well as Bosnian, Croatian and all of the Eastern European accents. I look forward to sharing my language and culture with you.

Let’s speak! The most important thing is speaking and listening. In a group class you do pleanty of listening, and waiting to speak, but not much speaking. With private tutoring you will learn ‘textbook Serbian’ but also the all-important Serbian idioms, slang, and colloquialisms that can only be learned in the intimate 1 on 1 setting. At Strommen we find it amazing, but many these terms are seldom taught even though they can be the most commonly used. When you get off the plane in Paris, we bet the first thing you hear will be an idiom!

Let’s read, write, and talk: the ‘multilateral’ approach. At Strommen Tutoring we believe in a ‘multilateral’ and organic approach to learning languages. Think of how you learned English as a child. We will use a variety of Serbian texts, from comic books to Serbian literature and plays. We will use reading exercises, unique writing exercises, and oral exercises we have developed through research and application. Therefore we will engage your Serbian ‘right brain’ through conversation, reading and listening but we will also employ your ‘left brain’ advantageously.
