Marhaba, my name is Saif. I was born and raised in Baghdad where I worked as an Arabic translator, and interpreter for different international organizations. I have done several presentations about Middle Eastern culture, and Arabic Language Vs the English language. I enjoy teaching Arabic and sharing my passion for the culture with English speakers. I have lived and worked in many cities including Los Angeles, London, Washington DC, Dubai, Baghdad, Amman , and more. I moved to London for business school, studied public relations and international marketing. I love Los Angeles and have always wanted to be in the city of arts and entertainment. I am currently enrolled at the graduate business school of Pepperdine University. My philosophy in life is that we live in one world and this life is a beautiful journey , we should enjoy its diversity and keep exploring its people, languages, and cultures.

Let’s speak! The most important thing is speaking and listening. In a group class you do pleanty of listening, and waiting to speak, but not much speaking. With private tutoring you will learn ‘textbook Arabic’ but also the all-important Arabic idioms, slang, and colloquialisms that can only be learned in the intimate 1 on 1 setting. At Strommen we find it amazing, but many these terms are seldom taught even though they can be the most commonly used. Let’s read, write, and talk: the ‘multilateral’ approach. At Strommen Tutoring we believe in a ‘multilateral’ and organic approach to learning languages. Think of how you learned English as a child. We will use a variety of Arabic texts, from comic books to Arabic literature and plays. We will use reading exercises, unique writing exercises, and oral exercises we have developed through research and application. Therefore we will engage your Arabic ‘right brain’ through conversation, reading and listening but we will also employ your ‘left brain’ advantageously.
